These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Vareon's WordPress plugins, add-ons, websites, and support services (collectively, the "Services"). By installing, accessing, or using our Services you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
1. Account and eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to create an account, make a purchase, or accept these Terms on behalf of yourself or an organization.
- Public website visitors may be younger, but they may not create accounts, make purchases, or use customer-only Services unless permitted by law and with the required consent.
- You agree to provide accurate account information and keep it updated. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials.
2. Licenses and permitted use (WordPress / GPL)
Our plugins are built for WordPress and comply with WordPress.org guidelines.
- Lite (GPL). Free editions are released under the GNU General Public License v2.0 or later. You may use, modify, and redistribute them under GPL terms.
- Pro (commercial access). Pro purchases grant access to downloads, updates, and support for the number of sites or seats specified at checkout for a period of one (1) year from the date of purchase, unless the checkout page states otherwise. The plugin code remains GPL; your license key controls access to updates and support.
You agree not to misuse the Services, including for unlawful, harmful, or abusive purposes, and not to circumvent technical measures that protect update and support services. GPL permissions for the code remain unaffected.
3. Payments, taxes, and renewals
- Payments are processed securely by Freemius or Stripe on our behalf. Applicable taxes, including VAT/MVA based on your billing location and applicable law, may be added.
- Annual plans renew automatically unless you cancel before the renewal date. You can disable auto-renewal at checkout or anytime in your account portal.
- Refunds. We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on the first purchase of a product, measured from the date of purchase. The guarantee does not apply to renewals, upgrades, or later purchases of the same product unless required by law or stated at checkout.
- If you are an EEA consumer, you may have statutory rights under local law; nothing here limits those rights.
4. Updates and support
- Active plans receive product updates and security patches. When a plan expires, you may continue using the plugin under GPL, but access to updates and support ends.
- Support is provided via our help desk during Norwegian business days, Monday through Friday, excluding Norwegian public holidays. We aim to reply within 24 to 48 hours.
- Support covers installation, configuration, and bug fixes. Custom development, conflicts with third-party themes or plugins, or WordPress core issues are out of scope.
5. Compatibility and requirements
- Each plugin lists its required WordPress and PHP versions on the product page and in the plugin readme. You are responsible for maintaining a compatible environment.
- We recommend testing updates on a staging site before deploying to production.
6. Ownership and trademarks
All intellectual property rights in the Services, excluding GPL-licensed code contributed by third parties, remain with Vareon or our licensors. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership. "Vareon" and associated marks are trademarks of their respective owners.
7. Privacy and data protection
We process personal data in accordance with the EU and EEA GDPR and the Norwegian Personal Data Act. See our Privacy Policy for details on what we collect and your rights.
8. Third-party services
The Services may integrate or rely on third-party platforms such as WordPress.org, Freemius, Stripe, Resend, and Google Analytics on vareon.dev where enabled. Those services are governed by their own terms; we are not responsible for their actions.
9. "Powered by" and external links
- Our plugins will not add external links on your public site without your explicit consent. Any optional "Powered by" credit is opt-in and can be turned off at any time.
- Administrative notices or links shown inside your WordPress dashboard are not considered public site links.
10. User content and feedback
If you submit reviews, feedback, feature ideas, or similar content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to use, reproduce, modify, and adapt that content to operate, maintain, and improve the Services. We will not publicly attribute you without consent.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable Norwegian law and mandatory consumer protection rules, the Services are provided "as is" and "as available." We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Services will be error-free or uninterrupted.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Vareon will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or data, arising out of or related to your use of the Services. Our aggregate liability for any claim will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid for the Services in the preceding twelve (12) months or (b) EUR 50, except where mandatory law requires otherwise.
13. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify and hold Vareon, its officers, employees, and agents harmless from claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Services or violation of these Terms.
14. Suspension and termination
- We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these Terms, fail to pay fees, or engage in harmful activity.
- Upon termination, your right to updates and support ends. GPL rights to any GPL-licensed components remain per the GPL.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Norway, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the courts of Norway, with primary venue in Oslo tingrett, unless mandatory law provides otherwise.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect product changes or legal requirements. We will post revised Terms with an updated "Last updated" date and, if changes are material, provide notice in-app or via email. Continued use after changes take effect indicates acceptance.
17. Force majeure
We will not be liable for any delay or failure to perform caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including outages, natural disasters, labor disputes, war, civil unrest, or failures of hosting, payment, licensing, or communication providers. We will use reasonable efforts to resume performance as soon as practicable.
18. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
19. Assignment
You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets.
20. Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of that right or provision.
21. Entire agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any order or checkout terms that apply to your purchase, constitute the entire agreement between you and Vareon regarding the Services and supersede prior or contemporaneous understandings on the same subject.
